The Brilliant Timing of Biden’s Withdrawal
No one seems to have given Joe Biden credit for what I think is the brilliant timing of his withdrawal announcement — which is after the Republication Convention where Trump picked JD Vance to be his running mate.
Trump is now stuck with Vance as his VP pick, whereas, had he known that Kamala Harris would be the Democratic nominee for President, he may have picked someone else to counter her. Such as Nikki Haley, who is also a woman with an Indian background like Harris. Or anyone else who is not a white man like himself, in order to appeal to a wider demographic. But he can no longer do that.
It remains to be seen how this plays out and who will end up winning in November, but for now, I would like to give Joe Biden credit for a brilliant move. It must have been so hard for him to maintain that he was not going to withdraw amidst so many brickbats being thrown at him. But he stuck it out, and I hope he is recognized for it.
